THE REALITY OF LIFE WITH A BABY

Before I had my baby, I thought I understood what motherhood would feel like. I knew it would be tiring, I knew I would be busy, and I knew life would change. But the truth is, nothing really prepares you for the real experience of it.

Life with a baby is beautiful, but it is also unpredictable. Some nights feel long. You think the baby is finally asleep, then they wake up again just when you’re about to rest. Some days, you plan your routine carefully, and within minutes, everything changes. You learn quickly that babies don’t follow schedules, they create their own.

And slowly, you adjust. You learn to do things in small pieces, you  eat when you can, shower when there is a quiet moment, sleep in short breaks instead of full nights and celebrate the little wins that used to feel normal before At first, this can feel overwhelming. But with time, something changes. You start becoming more patient. More observant. More flexible than you ever thought you could be.

There are also beautiful moments that make everything worth it. The way your baby looks at you like you are their whole world. The small smiles. The tiny hands holding onto you. The calm moments when everything feels still, even if just for a few minutes. Those moments remind you why you keep going.

I have learnt that motherhood is not about perfection. It is about presence. It is about showing up even when you are tired, even when things don’t go as planned, even when you are learning as you go. I am still at the beginning of this journey. I don’t have all the answers. But I am learning every day, one little step at a time. Seven months down the line we are progressing quite well.
